Teal

Serene teal-green — fresh, calm, and gently modern.

Printing this design

A pale teal wash with a hairline rule — low coverage, cheap in volume, and forgiving of most printers. The one caution is the hairline, which a worn photocopier will thin toward invisibility. In mono the teal reads as a cool light grey and the design survives intact.

Choosing the photograph

The circular crop needs the face centred and the edges clear. Teal is a cool palette, so photographs with cool or natural light sit in it more comfortably than warm indoor portraits, which can look orange against it.

Questions about Teal

Is teal an unusual choice?
Less than it used to be. It reads as calm and contemporary, and it is chosen by families who find the greens too botanical and the blues too formal. It carries no traditional association either way, which some families like.
Does it suit a service by the sea?
It is chosen for coastal services and for people whose lives were spent near water more than for any other reason. The association is not laboured in the design, but it is there.
How does it print in black and white?
Cleanly. The teal becomes a cool light grey and the layout is unaffected. The hairline rule is the only element to check on a poor copier.
